Item 67: Greenwich.. in the Meantime

iPhone at 0 degreesLocation: Greenwich, UK

So I saved this visit for a day when the sun was shining and the DLR to Greenwich was free of any weekend engineering works.

Disembarking the train at Cutty Sark we ventured uphill for a 10 minute walk to the Royal Observatory to find Greenwich Mean Time. It's the line whereby we measure our time for daylight savings, and thank God we're into that over here in the UK!

Technically, it's known as the Prime Meridian of the World, invisibly connecting the North and South Poles.
Just ask the iPhone. Longitude 0ยบ.

The observatory itself has a few items of interest including a Camera Obscurer and impressive Astronomy Galleries. But with the good weather and European school kids running riot on their excursions inside, it's best to get there early, take a packed picnic and head out to Greenwich Park to enjoy GMT +1:00.

Item 67: Greenwich? CHECK!

Very enjoyable read. Trying to get all 60+ items now. It's nice and random, wouldn't want to repeat the same thing 60 times now would you.

I wonder how many of the 60 things people have replicated verbatim. Not so much the traditional rites of passage things that you need to do when you get there, but even the purposely random adventures.

Thanks Lorenzogate. I’m very flattered.

It will be interesting to see how I go about getting to Item 100!
